History

Torre Annunziata (Italian: [ˈtorre annunˈtsjaːta]; Neapolitan: Torre Nunziata) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in the Italian region of Campania. It is located on the Gulf of Naples, at the foot of Mount Vesuvius. The municipality lies on the innermost part of the Gulf of Naples, in a narrow coastal strip between Vesuvius and the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is included in the Vesuvius "red zone", the area planned for preventive evacuation in the event of renewed volcanic activity.
